First Home Owners Grant

The NSW Government provides eligible purchasers with a Grant to buy their first home. The value of the home must not exceed $835,000 if the contracts are exchanged before 1 October 2012. From 1 October 2012 the value of the home must not be more than $650,000.00 and must also be new to be eligible for the Grant.

Do I Qualify?

To be eligible for the Grant you must satisfy a number of requirements including:

 

At least one applicant must be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident. 

 

Each applicant must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Each applicant and their spouse must not have previously owned residential property in Australia before July 2000.

 

Each applicant and their spouse must not have previously owned and occupied a property in Australia (at any time) for a continuous period of 6 months.

 

One applicant will occupy the property as their principal place of residence for a continuous period of six months within 12 months of settlement of the purchase.
